Where We Work
Since 2008, TIDE has been providing services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. We mainly work with the Biripi and Worimi people of Taree, Forster/Tuncurry, Gloucester, Wauchope and Port Macquarie. However, TIDE has delivered services from as far north as Ballina and as far south as Newcastle.
Under the TIDE Constitution there are seven Members, the majority of whom must be Aboriginal Australians. The Members elect the Directors - who comprise the Board - at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). There can be no less than three and no more than ten directors.
TIDE has an internal Aboriginal employment strategy which requires at least 40% of TIDE staff to be Aboriginal. TIDE currently has three non-Indigenous staff and over twenty Aboriginal staff (80%). The TIDE strategy also provides for training and skills development for Aboriginal staff.
The TIDE Board comprises of members of the local Aboriginal community.
